Kathryn (Kathy) McDonald
I am passionate about helping clients find the awareness, insight, and resilience they need to overcome challenges and live a joyful, meaningful, and fulfilling life.
My approach in counseling is based on ensuring you feel you are in a supportive space so you can explore your current thoughts and feelings, process past experiences, and envision and achieve your goals.
I work with adults who are struggling with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress, career issues, grief/loss, and relationship issues.
I am trained in and use research-based techniques including: CBT, EMDR, MBCT, IFS, Gottman method, as well as psychodynamic and humanistic approaches. Along with these research-based techniques, I bring creative and integrative thinking to offer therapy tailored to the uniqueness of each client.
As a former business consultant to Fortune 500 companies, I also have a deep understanding of clients dealing with the demands of high-pressure careers and job stress.
My education includes: MS Counseling and Development, Texas Woman's University; MS in Marketing and Communication, Northwestern University; Bachelor's Behavioral Sciences, Indiana University. I am also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and often combine relaxation and breathing techniques with psychotherapy to address the mind-body connection necessary to achieve emotional wellbeing.
